Everything start with a Basic Drawing

Everything that surrounds us are products of imagination made possible by sketches and designs. Commercialised drawings are founded from basic drawings and eventually made sophisticated depending on demands and competition on the side.
As a drawing teacher, I am amazed by the variety of designs available in the market but teaching drawing for juniors has to conform with the basic fundamentals of drawing and its mastery through practice. Junior students are very likely to succeed once they know the basics of sketching.

To offer them opportunities to master basic sketching has always been a challenge. However,
i believe that all I have to do is to facilitate the students prior knowledge of sketching through observation from what is available around them like cellphones, tables and chairs, cars, shoes, bags anything in and out of their homes, office, schools and workplace and provide opportunities for them to appreciate sketching from simplest to the most sophisticated forms.

I will first look at the prior knowledge of students, show them how to do it, allow them to work in groups, pairs and eventually do it independently. Feedbacks from the teacher and peers will create better understanding of the concept being studied and will generate creativity and ideas from each other. Collaborative learning is also expected to take place as they improve  simple dots, lines, shapes, forms and adding colours to their works.
